New Ornate Garden Suite

Stampin Up! is releasing some of the product from the new annual catalog early! It is available to customers on April 1st. No April Fool’s joke! There are two new bundles and both of them are great. One, Ornate Style, has images and some great frame dies. The other, Ornate Thanks, has wonderful edge dies and lots of sentiment stamps. Or you can get the whole package, both bundles, an embossing folder, Designer Series Paper, ribbon, and embellishments all together in the Ornate Garden Suite.

Here is a card I made using the Ornate Style bundle.

When I first saw this image, I wasn’t sure if I liked it. So I got out my Stampin’ Blends and started coloring. One thing I like about coloring is the image just seems to come alive. I really like the way it turned out. It is just so bright and cheery!

I am really looking forward to playing with both of these sets. The possibilities for cards and scrapbook pages is exciting! Stay tuned for more!

Alternatives for the March 2020 Paper Pumpkins

I am still having fun playing with the March 2020 Paper Pumpkin. You can get so many different cards from this months kit. I love the extra stamp set that came with it. If you go join my PaperTree Creations Community page on Facebook, you can see a card I made to send to my church family to let them know I missed being with them on Sunday.

Here are two more cards I made.

When I first saw this card base, it reminded me of the sea. Out came the Sailing Home bundle. I wanted to make it a A2 card, so I cut the front off and matted it in Night of Navy before putting it on a Whisper White base. I colored the sailboat with Stampin Blends, fussy cut a cloud by stamping off first with Balmy Blue, and stamped my sentiment. I really like how it turned out.

The next one changes the sentiment and layout a little (had to use that bunny again!), but is mostly supplies from the kit. This was such a great kit! I made this one an A2 card too.

I know I will still be making other cards from this kit. I haven’t used half the supplies yet! Just love when you can get so much out of it.

Next month’s Paper Pumpkin looks awesome. Here is a teaser video. Don’t forget to sign up before April 10th to get the next Paper Pumpkin.

March 2020 Paper Pumpkin Alternatives

Have you seen the March Paper Pumpkin? So cute! I love the bright colors they used in this one. Around here, at this time of year, it’s usually gloomy as we wait for the first flowers to pop up. So the spring look is much appreciated!

For the first card, I went digging in my past Paper Pumpkin stamps till I found a couple stamps that I wanted to use. I can’t remember which months they’re from but I though they worked.

I love the “Hello Sunshine” sentiment for this card. It’s always nice when you can put your umbrella down. It fit perfectly on one of the tags that came with the kit too. I used the flower embellishments and some of the twine that came with the kit to finish it off.

The other thing I did was to cut the card in half and mount it a piece of Night of Navy and then on an A2 card base. A very cheerful card!

I had to use that darling bunny in a card. Since bunnies like to go into the gardens, I decided to use the garden gate to put behind him with the basket of flowers..

I used another old Paper Pumpkin stamp for this one too. Since today is the first day of Spring, I thought it was appropriate.

Product List

My last card for now uses the umbrella punch and that wonderful coordination product paper that is available till the end of the month.

I used the umbrella punch to cut out the colorful umbrella from the Pleased as Punch paper. Only a few more days to get this paper so don’t wait too much longer.

How to Get More from Your Paper Pumpkin (February 2020 Alternatives)

One of the things that I love about Paper Pumpkin is that you can make so much more then what the kit suggests! One of my favorite ways to do it is to cut up the card bases so you can make more that one card. I did three cards out of one base here. What a great value!

I took the card base and cut two 4 x 5 1/2 pieces. Then I took one of them and cut it in half again to make two 4 x 2 3/4 inch pieces. I wanted to use some of my other stamps too, so I found a couple that I thought would work well.

Cake Card

paper pumpkin alternate card using cake

Staying with the birthday theme of the kit, I used the Piece of Cake stamp set and the Cake Builder punch.

For the first two cards, I heat embossed the sentiment with white embossing powder. I think the darker color makes the white really stand out. I dug around in my scraps and found this fun paper that went well with the card base. After coloring in the cake and suckers, I put them on the leftover punched out piece. There’s almost always a way to use the discarded pieces!

Come Sail Away

nautical themed paper pumpkin alternate card

In this next card, I used the Sailing Home set for a masculine birthday card. The retired cording made a great rope accent, although I had to look at the picture of the sailors knot on the Come Sail Away Designer Series Paper to make it!

For the last card, I used the Lovely Lilypad stamp set. This is a free-with-purchase set from Sale-A-Bration.

Paper Pumpkin Alternatives for the February 2020 Kit

Have you seen the February Paper Pumpkin yet? I am always so impressed with the quality of the kit, especially for the price point! With this kit, you make 9 cards, get a stamp set, all the embellishments, dimensionals, and an ink spot . All for $22 shipped! I think that’s impressive.

So I just started playing with it, and I made a slight modification on one of the cards. I pretty much followed the instructions but put the sentiment on the top of the card instead of over the flower. I thought the flower was too pretty to cover up!

Speaking of the flower, when I saw the flower stamp, I knew I wanted to color it! It is so pretty. So I used some Stampin’ Blends and this is what I came up with.

The pop up foam sentiments are done in copper foil and are lovely. It’s hard to tell in the picture, but the sequins that come in the kit are on the buds. It gives it a nice sparkly look.

If you haven’t tried the Paper Pumpkin Subscription Box, now is the time. Paper Pumpkin is celebrating their 7th anniversary in March and are including a second stamp set! It looks like a cute set and I think it may coordinate with the Under My Umbrella Bundle. I can’t promise that because it is always a surprise, but those rain boots make me think it might.

January 2020 Paper Pumpkin Alternatives

Paper Pumpkin is such a great subscription box! Did you know it is rated one of the top 20 subscription boxes by Best Arts and Crafts Subscription Boxes. I can see why! Here is what came in the January kit.

This month’s kit made up some adorable treat bags and gift enclosure cards. Check out the video to see them.

All my children are adults now so I made up the bags for my Card Class ladies, although I’m sure my girls would like some of the chocolate too! I also had some fun making other designs for the bags. Here are a few I made.

The January kit works well with the Honey Bee Bundle. I used the hive stamp from the Honey Bee stamp set and the honeycomb die from the Detailed Bees Die . This set is so cute and there is FREE paper in the Sale-A-Bration catalog to go with it.

For this one I used the Under My Umbrella Bundle. This would be an absolutely darling set for bridal or baby showers.

I also made a couple card alternatives. I made two gift card enclosures and then a A2 Wedding card. And I still had plenty of supplies left over for more projects! I love how this kit coordinates with so many different supplies. The Heart Punches were used for the wedding card.

If you like subscription boxes, Paper Pumpkin is one to try. Subscribe before the 10th to get this months box. And enjoy!
